Yoga in the Workplace...Who doesn’t love having fun activities at work?

It’s no surprise that people are working longer hours and can easily become stressed within the workplace this can lead to poor performance, anxiety and ultimately time off work.

Employers are beginning to look for ways to reduce employee stress so they can have more positive interactions with their co-workers, whist increasing productivity too.

Offering a time for employees to practice yoga, whilst in the work place, can help relieve some of the work pressures and provide many benefits that help create a more enjoyable work place, resulting in employees less inclined to have time off for sickness.

Many people experience a noticeable dip in their alertness, energy level, and ability to concentrate in the afternoon. This is commonly known as the mid-afternoon slump; which can occur between 2 – 5pm, when brain fog rolls in.

The body is not designed to be seated for long periods. So taking the time to focus with a yoga practice; even for a short period of time, can boost energy and combat the mid-afternoon slump.

Sitting all day hunched over the computer creates bad posture and the natural curves of the spine slowly start to reverse. A huge benefit of yoga is maintaining the natural curves of the spine, with simple, gentle and effective movements, such as; lengthening the sides of the waist, tilting the pelvis and broadening the back body.

Yoga also stretches major muscles groups to increase joint mobility preventing joint aches, pains and stiffness and by increasing blood flow and stimulating the lymphatic system, yoga helps to activate the immune system; a strong and healthy immune system protects the body against infections.

Increased energy, boosting employee morale and team bonding resulting in less sick days and higher performance amongst employees…What’s not to like?
